NFL Week Five Updates: Eagles vs Broncos and More Matchups

Real-time NFL Coverage

Hello, football supporters! Join us for week five of the National Football League season, as I deliver live coverage from the first matchups. It's a nice late morning start on the Pacific coast at 10am (PST), extending to an early evening 6pm (BST) in England. Recently, the Vikings fought back to defeat the Browns 21-17 due to a short receiver touchdown grab with under half a minute remaining at the London venue. The Vikings improve to three wins and two losses, while Cleveland drop to 1-4. Today's lineup is already off and running.

We have a solid lineup of 6 matchups to follow:

  • Ravens v Houston Texans

  • Carolina Panthers v Miami Dolphins

  • Indianapolis Colts against Las Vegas Raiders

  • Saints vs New York Giants

  • Jets against Cowboys

  • Philadelphia Eagles vs Broncos

Featured Battle: Eagles Face Broncos

The marquee matchup is going down in Philly with the undefeated reigning champions receiving a visit from the Broncos. Theoretically, you might expect an straightforward victory, but a quick search reveals reports doubting whether the Eagles are the least impressive undefeated squad in history. It's unclear. However, is they have benefited from some fortune on special teams with three blocked kicks, including one that earned a win against the Los Angeles Rams. A crucial factor will be how Denver defense coach Vance Joseph prepares his defense to stop the Eagles' dual threat quarterback Hurts from charging down the field. Should they force the pass, then a significant victory might result for Denver, now with two wins and two losses, which would have prognosticators, myself included, that predicted the Broncos would finally depose the Chiefs in the AFC West feeling more optimistic.

Additional Games to Follow

Elsewhere, a number of teams with single victories are keen to edge closer to .500 with a W, or exactly there in the case of the Dallas Cowboys after their wild 40-40 tie with Green Bay has them at 1-2-1. A trip to the Meadowlands to face the yet to win New York Jets should do the trick as they look to keep the offensive fireworks flowing between QB Dak Prescott and wide receiver Pickens. Ultimately, top receiver CeeDee Lamb’s absence might actually help the Dallas as his expanded duties recently will have accelerated his development, making the offense more powerful when Lamb does return. In the here and now, the New York's backfield needs to be alert and even more to avoid a disappointing fall to 0-5.

Baltimore Take On Houston in Surprising Matchup

A pair of unexpected teams with one win and three losses go head-to-head in Maryland as the injury-hit Baltimore Ravens are led into battle with the Texans by reserve QB Cooper Rush. In this fixture last season, we saw Beyoncé’s stupendous half-time show surrounded by the Texans enduring a horrendous one-sided loss at their stadium on Christmas Day, then a decisive whipping in the postseason a month later at their venue. However, without the hurt two-time MVP Lamar Jackson on the field, who threw four touchdowns, scored additional TDs, and accumulated massive yardage in the two thrashings, the Texans' unit will be optimistic.
